Research notes
Cordless convenience makes pin choice worth checking
The DCN623D1 kit uses the same DCN623 nailer discussed in bare-tool owner reports. Its useful distinction is compressor-free pinning for finish work. The available owner discussions show varied jam experiences, so they support a practical check rather than a blanket reliability verdict.
- Published specification. DeWalt specifies 23-gauge pins from 5/8 to 1-1/2 inches, plus depth adjustment and jam release without tools. Its announcement distinguishes the DCN623B bare unit from the DCN623D1 kit. Source 1
- Reported experience. In one Reddit thread, the original poster associated misfires with Metabo pins and reported improvement after changing brands; other participants described different experiences. Source 2
- Reported experience. A second discussion includes an owner who liked cordless site work and reported satisfactory pin sinking in oak. Source 3
- What it means. Trial the exact pin length and brand on matching offcuts before a visible finish piece. Source 1 Source 2
